7 minutes in heaven

It was any other camp
just for a week
was there to make friends
a relationship i didn't seek

the first night was fine
and so was the next day
just after a campfire
i glanced your way

you must have been looking at me
because we caught each others eye
i worked my way through the crowd
to come and say hi

we talked for a while
and were partners in a game
we had a lot in common
music we liked the same

camp was almost over
one day was left to go
we packed our bags that night
to the party we walked slow

the night was really clear
a huge bonfire the counselors would tame
then the whole camp decided
to play one last group game

people ran out from everywhere
as they escaped the dome
and then before i knew it
you and i were all alone

just a faint light in the distance
we were hidden by the trees
random shouts from campers
nearby a bush humming with bees

we slowly moved closer
you put your hand in my hair
i looked deep into your eyes
everyone else can take it from there

goodbyes were sadly said
phone numbers were also given
i will never forget you
