Waiting My Turn

by alexandra   Apr 27, 2004

Your words go into my mind
And easy as that
I'm hooked on every time

Thinking maybe
Things will be
Us together again, perfectly

But don't worry
I'll try not to fall in love with you again.
Because you remind me

“I can't” you say
“I'm with her”
So don't let me stand in your way.

Loving you
Is what keeps me alive
But it kills me too

So what more do you need from me?
I'm here- your back up, your *just in case*
You know I'll always love you; I can't give up so easily.

So go ahead and use me
I really don't mind
And when she's gone, I'll be ready.

And while you're with her
I'll pretend my best to be happy
Patiently waiting my turn.

You've taught me everything I know
How to laugh, how to cry
How to lose control

I need to learn
How to fall out of love
How to make my head turn

How to ignore
Your sweet words
But of course, my heart is torn

You are a drug to me
People telling me to stop
Friends thinking

That they can help me stop crying
But now they know
You took my everything

And you still have it with you
So please give it back
I need it more than you do.

You've got me
Wrapped around your finger
You've brought me

To watch you and her
Telling me you love me
But forcing me to watch you two together

But I don't mind the torture
I'll let you do this to me
I just hope you know I love you more than her.

But that doesn't matter I guess
It's not my turn yet
And I guess she is the best

So I'll take the abuse
I'll listen to the words
And I'll accept you two.

Patiently waiting for my turn
Waiting for you
Waiting for you to remove this burn.
