Arms of an Angel

by Viola   Aug 9, 2007

In the cold December darkness
An angel comes and wakes my dreams
Breaking the silence that's within
Touching me gently with its fragile wing

Sitting, if just for a moment, to listen
As I speak of my troubles to him
His eyes glare at me sympathetically
As if he knows just what I mean

And I, without regret, begin to let him in
So he can touch a part of me
That no one else, but me, has seen
His soothing voice is what comforts me

His gentle touch a promising hope
And as he cautiously moves closer
I am suddenly reassured
That he'll be the one to save me

When I lay my weary head upon him
A warmth and security sets around me
I'm in the arms of an angel
Safe and protected, within
