The Heart Beat

by BrittanyLouise   Aug 11, 2007

I looked to a cloud soft and free--
The dream you opened inside of me.
I felt my heart beat dependently,
Attachment, Adoration--love, obviously.

I found a place--in of you;
A familiar face--Smile--your unfamiliar woo,
I felt your heart beat. Surely Blue.
Indifferent? Inconsiderate? I never knew.

I searched my own face for 'eyes away.'
The mirror told me, "Look the other way."
I felt our hearts beat, opposite games we play;
Fallacious appearance, Intended overlay.

I saw the clear writing on the wall.
And through the foreboding crystal ball...
I felt the Heart Beat--which wasn't at all.
Empty. I felt its absence before the fall.
