Define Promise

I'm here lying in my bed
Like i've done many nights before
With all my emotions running through my head
Leaving me with a sense of emptyness

Rewind how this all began and you'd see
It really wasn't that long ago
After your show you promised me something
At least that is what i thought

The words from your lips said one thing
But who would have ever guessed
Those words had a different meaning
I guess i don't know the English language as well as i thought

This was suppose to be a weekend to remember
A celebration of another year
But it's not looking like there will be much to remember
At least anything i would want to

Next time, I have a favour to ask
Think of what your about to say to me
Before you say it, Think it over again
So this time you will mean what you say
