Hands

I love hands
like I love people
because hands learn like angry minds do
hands tell stories even when mouths don't
hands can make comfort in silence
hands can hold other hands
I've always seen the artistic beauty
in a hand held in a fist
beating war dums
or just held high
in pride
I draw hands
to represent people
bonded together
by a handhold
or shake
or simply by the color
of their hands
hands mold to one another
to fit together
while people are stubborn
in their ways
hands learn to hit piano key
and caress babies
and no one's will ever be the same
as with you and I
we hold hands fingers laced
criss-crossing ourselves into a knot
of hands and silence and poetry
Our hands fit perfect
my right in your left
allowing us to write and draw and act freely
with our dominant hands
I love hands
like I love people
because hands can never lie
