Gum Diggers Gold

by Sparks   Aug 24, 2007

In deep bush
In an ocean of green and brown
You stand tall head held high above the ground

When gum diggers come marching by
They stop for a second in awe
Of your unearthly splendor

When you the mighty Kauri tree
Are seen by the gum digger
You know it'll end in grief

He comes back next quarter moon
Hand drill strapped to the reins
He sets his ladder at the ready

He bores you at turtles pace
Just one cry in agony
You bleed out in disgrace

Just for the proud gum digger
Wandering round in gum boots
To yell out in your face;

Ill be back one day when you're dead
Then we'll work on the roots.
