Art Of Tranquility

by Danielle   Aug 27, 2007

A blanket of stars quietly shines a sparkling net onto a still pond
And I throw a rock into the water to realize where my thoughts belong
For just a short moment the water brings the rock to life
As the splashes and graceful dances play underneath the moon light
But then the brackish water gives in and engulfs the little rock
Leaving it to render circular ripples, gently flowing toward the dock

As I slowly walk onto the dock, the wood creeks beneath my shoes
And the wind’s gentle breeze carries aromas of midnight blues
I pause to hear the sound of water rolling onto the shore
And to picture the pond giving back the rocks it had taken once before
I lean into the post to look out into the dark and think about the past
Wondering if everything in this world was this difficult to grasp

I sit down and let my toes dip into the mysterious mixture
They hang, swinging against the wind to create a captivating picture
A single leaf spirals down, a small shadow in the dark
Flips and turns mimic a radiant dance, another chance to leave a mark
The soft landing ends the spinning, and the leaf glides gently towards me
Leaving a calm wake in its path, I was drawn to the silent symphony
