As soldiers come home
women gather round the planes
waiting for those
who they've missed

and as soldiers come home
one or more is always missing
but there's one
whose wife doesn't know

as soldiers come home
a Sargeant greets her
tells her the news
of her beloved

and as soldiers come home
shes the only one weeping
tears of sorrow
instead of tears of joy
