Goodbye

by Torrence   Aug 30, 2007

What is real
In a world full of shade
Full of specters
Haunting every step
Distorting every shape
Until you disappear and are gone

Why do I follow
Just out of reach
Whispering to the emptiness in between
Never loud enough for you to hear
Never saying anything worth the breath it takes
Why am I content
With agonizing silence
Controlling my pain
While you disappear
And are gone

Where is this sickness
Coming on in a rush
A craving, a hunger
Knowing love is my drug
Dying of withdrawal
Accepting my fate
As the way it must be
And I can't take it anymore
To see the distance growing
As I fall down, weak
Yet, you continue on,
And are gone

And what will fill the distance
When the night grows dark and the days grow cold
What will bring a smile when all I feel are tears
What will it be like
Once you've disappeared
Once you've gone
