Sitting by the fire.
Hot cocoa in my hands.
Warm blanket at my feet.
Remembering.
Remembering of the days,
That you held my hand.
The days we walked down the street.
The nights that were spent with endless hours of talking.
All that seems so far.
I take a sip.
Lay my head back and close my eyes.
Oh, how I long for those days.
Oh, how I wish they would come back like a storm.
Open my eyes and watch the snowfall
Outside the window.
I'm so frightened to move on.
So scared to leave.
Worried I might lose you.
Worried I might never see you again.
It's hard letting go.
It's hard moving on.
Tears fall...
Set down my cup.
Look into your eyes as you ask "What's wrong?"
You hug me as I fall into a fantasy.
Where we're kids again.
Laughing and playing.
You look at me with eyes of comfort.
I'll never forget those eyes.
But I have to realize, as time slips slowly by
I can only remember.
Remember the days where we ran,and jumped,
And played.
Never a worry.
Never a fright.
Never a constant gaze into the future.
I wipe my eyes.
Smile at my friend.
"I'll miss you too," she says, as a tear falls from her eye.
We remain on the couch with our hot cocoa at hand.
Calmly watching the fire burn.
These nights are ending when we are together.
Let's make the best of them.
So we can remember the last days we shared together.
