Scars Do Heal

I always thought that scars never heal
That a bleeding heart's wound would seal
But the laceration would remain
A simple reminder that love causes pain

I always thought that true love never existed
But now I know it is a righteous saying of those who resisted
Those who resisted to give into the pain of a wounded heart
Those who resisted their heart from ever breaking apart

Now I know there is a such thing as a love that is true
For it is a feeling that takes away the pain when I feel blue
It is the feeling I get when I see that special someone
The feeling of joy knowing they can be replaced by no one

I know this because I know I have that gift
I know this feeling will never shift
I have found the person who is so special to me
For she has allowed me to love without fear of being free

I'm here to say that scars do heal
With the help of a caring lover, any wound can seal
When the healing is done, no scar will remain
No more reminders of a love that causes pain.
