Once Upon A Time

by Emm   Oct 11, 2007

I gave you my heart
And you pushed it away
like it was scorching your hands
I gave you my heart.
And once upon a time, we just danced.

I gave you my tears...
You bottled and sold them to make a quick dime.
I gave you my feelings and you cheated the game.
Once upon a time...
You felt the same.

I laughed at your dumb jokes.
My heart did those flips.
I listened intently,
my gaze met your lips.

You said what you needed,
But when it was time,
For me then to tell you...
You fed me a line.

I never had planned it.
That it happened like that.
I sat there in silence,
My heart in a trap.

"I'm not falling for this guy!"
I screamed in my head.
But there was no cause,
I fell harder instead.

I never asked for this to happen.
It happened really fast.
I fell for you quickly.
And it's not in the past.

Just dumb things would happen,
That would pull me in more.
I reached out my hand,
And you brought me to shore.

I wish you just knew this.
That I'm not some girl on a list.
I'm the girl that fell...against her will...
Into tragic, magic, bliss.

Superhuman qualities.
My heart skips a beat.
It was not Superman, nor spider man,
That swept me off my feet.

Once upon a time I was strong enough.
To know where to stand.
But my knees crumble under me.
And I reach for your hand.
This time your grasp was heavy with lure.
I fell for you boy.
Once upon a time...this time, I hit ground for sure.

P.S. I miss my Batman.
