You Were Mine

by RomeoJuliet   Oct 11, 2007

Before you were mine when love stared at you
from across the room, hidden in my sweet smile.
Laughter and fun filled the air around you, never
a moment without you having something funny to say,
All your friends adore but you don't notice. Me.

Before you were mine when my eyes lit up when
your hand touched mine, but you don't think
of me like that yet, or do you? Dizzy daydreams
always of you, doesn't my smile give you a clue?

Before you were mine on those long walks home,
Smiling and laughing with stars in our eyes
and hearts in our heads, maybe, the next
word you'd say is 'yes,' now you are mine

Now you are mine when love's singing the same song,
And you're kiss on my lips is all that is needed
to tell me you love me, or at least I thought it was
when those long walks home turned in passionate getaways

Now you are mine when our hearts beat as one,
And we're finding we're finishing each other's sentences
But is that what it's all about, or is there more?
That's what you wanted to know when you left. Me.

After you were mine love's hidden behind our hearts,
And yet it thrives,
I wonder why?
You let me go but you still love me with all your heart,
That what you tell me when we're all alone.

After you were mine when those long walks home aren't as they seem,
Passionate getaways of love and excitement,
We're going to be late but we know it's worth it
just to feel we're still alive and loving inside.

After you were mine when time is nothing but eternity,
Where the steamy atmosphere of fire and passion dances
around our heads and our hearts and you say
'I want to feel your soul'

After you were mine.
