WAR

by Hannah   Oct 15, 2007

On the plain being transported to that other world
a war zone that nobody heard.
Knowing nothing but pain and acts of war
knowing not to moan when there bodies are sore
Children playing where once a dead man lead
Playing children's games with guns instead.
The bright sun burns down onto these unprotected homes
Not asking for help expecting to be alone.
As the soldiers walk through these and cannot look
Only recognizing what authority has took.
Foot after foot hits the ground
Every things silent no one makes a sound.
And in the air a single shot is fired
You have to work now no such thing as tired.
Watching your friends backs
legs being weighed down by ammo and packs
Telling civilians to get under cover
Pushing your self to get faster and tougher.
You run round blocks of demolished houses
You here a shout one of your troops caught on his trousers,
Looking around you see the hot spots
You tell him to lie low and you here the shots,
You look again and theres the red dots,
staring to seep through his jacket,
The b*****ds got him, f**k them, damn it.
You turn your head and see your men
They know hes gone you don't even have to tell them.
You signal them to go on in,
In the building where the enemy is hidden,
The sounds blocked out and the dust in your eyes
you cant stop and think now one of your has died,
hes just another in the cycle of hate,
not only that he was also a mate.
Sneaking up the stairs,
Fingers on the trigger,
Its so hot but your still start shiver,
Listening hard for signs of breathing,
Not taking a breath just standing hearing,
You Open the door and there hes stood,
eye to the sight head under a hood,
you hold your weapon up and tell him to drop his,
if you shoot him you cannot miss
He lays it down puts his hands in the air
you push him out first down to wards the stair,
You push him on the floor and tell him to stay there.
Looking out the door you look left and right,
wondering what more causality's lay out of sight.
Its just another day in the months of conflict
its just another troop out of the ones that have been hit.
