Don't Cry

by Hannah   Oct 16, 2007

Don't cry, is what you said to me
I will be back, you'll see

So as I hugged you I held back my tears
And pushed away my strongest fears

Your birthday has passed
And Christmas too
Just don't worry; I am still thinking of you

Since you've been gone I have been doing pretty well
But today, Veterans Day, is when my eyes start to swell

This is when I try not to cry
To follow the instructions that you gave me when you said goodbye

It's just getting hard to stay strong all of these years
Thunderstorms don't compare to all of my tears

There's nothing much that I can do now
All any of us can do is wait
For the day that you return
Is the day that we all anticipate

So for now I will ignore all the reports on the news
Because all they do is make me worry about you

I will not cry because I have seen your face when I do
I will not cry
I will stay strong for you
