Sitting in the Laundry Room

by SaRaH K   Oct 19, 2007

Sitting in the laundry room I begin to drift asleep
I lay my head down on my books and allow my dreams to creep.
It is a bright, sunny day in the middle of June. We are walking hand in hand
Enjoying the breeze and the beautiful view as we write love notes in the sand.

The world spins, the sand disappears, and leaves begin to turn.
You are there beside me, holding me close as the nearby fire crackles and burns.
Soon the fire is gone and there is a chill in the air that makes me bundle up tight.
There is snow on the ground as I push you down and start a snowball fight.

Before I know it the snow melts away and it is time for a wonderful new year
Of happiness and laughter and possibly a few tears.
Out one night, just the two of us, you take me by surprise
You place a ring upon my finger and instantly we combine our lives.

A few years pass. A few things change. How quickly time went by.
The life we started together is no longer just you and I.
The kids need help with school work so they can be like me
But getting them off the computer is impossible since they want to be like their daddy.

And now, once again, there is wedding bells, but not for you or me
The time has come for us to let go and set our children free.
The wrinkles of time play across our faces and our bodies begin to slow
But no matter what happens to us our love will continue to grow.

And then, before we know it our time will come to pass
No matter how we lived our life that time will come to fast.
Just as they lay us to rest, under the warm and smiling sun
I wake up a realize all was just a dream and now my clothes are done.
