When you can't save a friend

by claire   Nov 11, 2007

Sighs rustle in the grass
I look down and see your face
All I feel is tired
And defeat
I've lost this race

I lost more than just some contest
I lost you,
Even though I ran my hardest.
I did my best to help you
Cause long ago, I promised.

Yes
I tried so hard
And cried so hard
But in the end
I couldn't save you
My best friend
So there you lie
In the grass
and dead.

ps this isn't true - its more like one of my worst nightmares.
