You Consume Me

You Consume Me

Be still, the dawn
In which I slumber
Awoken with His voice
The tremors of my midnight dreams
Begone without a choice.

Wracked in chains
I once was bound
But now I am set free
I once became so many things
But now He has made me Me.

Tear drops fell
I felt succumbed
To darkness and its taste...
But since I fell upon my knees,
The darkness has been laid waste.

Be still, my soul
So you can see
What portion God has for you...
With humble heart I come tonight,
And with every day renewed.

Help me see
and learn and feel
What you want me to become
Let me be Your shining Light
And with the world let me be done.

I know what words you say to me
And I can feel your touch
You suffered so often for what we can't understand
Can't they see you love us so much?

It seems the world withdraws its sight
It glitters and praises your beauty
But let the ones who believe in You
Fulfill their right and duty.

I'm sorry that I wanted to see the world
But now I know its illusion...
If only I'd had the faith since born
I would've escaped my own delusion.

But now I see that you are true
And you're here with me every day
Teach me, Jesus, prove me true
Guide me, Lord Jesus, I pray.

Hellelujah, Praise you, God...
I worship you day and night
You are inside me; My Consuming Fire
I never want you out of my sight.

Hebrews 12:29 -- "For our God [is indeed] a consuming fire."

Deuteronomy 4:24 -- "For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God."
