The Knight's Retort

This cannot be the end
A knight's work is never done
Who else could rescue the maiden fair
And show her a bit of fun?

Maybe not so shining
Dressed in robe and hood
Still he will love this maiden
And guard her like he should

And though the maiden may deny
Inside she must be torn apart
She might have convinced her head
But She can not fool her heart

The knight will still be waiting
Until the end of time
For his maiden to finally realize
She commited such a crime

To write a letter, With such emotion
and say that love will never be
Keeping her eyes closed from the truth
Why does she refuse to see?

What is she afraid of?
This knight will stay fair and true
He will keep her from all forms of harm
They could start anew

Anything he'd give for this dear girl,
He would never conceal his face
Always for the maiden to see
Always for her to embrace

She would have loved him, For that day she said
But what if their dreams came true?
What would happen the day after?
Would they simply be through?

The knight he won't believe it
It's impossible to love for just a day
Love is something special
It can never go away.

Though he too was caught off guard
These feelings he never thought he had
Until he met this wonderous girl
Who has made this knight so glad

Their adventures are not yet over
The maiden and the knight
Their love can not start and end
In simply just one night

So he will give her time, and wait
Until she searches deep inside
He knows exactly what she will find
This feeling won't subside
