Salty Consequences

by Viola   Dec 14, 2007

Well I hate to see those tears form in your eyes
But I don't think I can promise anything better
I know you'd never let me see you cry now
But I can already taste its implications
This world is so harsh and cold
I know you're thinking it as pencil marks a wrinkled paper
Cold dark shadows that overpower everything
And in the midst of the chaos
I hope you know I feel it too
You're shivering as you break a smile
It's so unreal and I want to make it better
If I could, well you should know, I'd be your shelter
Because it hurts even more seeing you and feeling helpless
Like snow flakes that fell to the ground and got stepped on
How did it ever get to this?
But the questions are endless
And the answers so vague and scarce
I don't think we'd ever get to the bottom
I begged you to leave it as it was, no further harm
But I know you better than to believe you would have
I'd do anything right now to convince you it isn't the right way
But a step backwards is a step in the right direction
If you were going the wrong way to begin with
