Poem for Belinda

Once upon a time many years ago
We met in 6th form at school
Who'd have thought we'd last so long
Perhaps ambition kept us cool

We are always there no matter what
To help in every way
Communication is our key
Even when there's nothing to say

Sarah and Craig ,our kids were born
They're the apples of our eye
They've brought such joy and laughter
As the weary days went by

You've just retired from the force
And we're going on a cruise
We'll take the seas together
And do all the things we choose

No doubt you'll miss Las Vegas
But the photos will get you by
Just don't bore everyone with an explanation
Of where, what, when and why!

Yes you have your faults, as do I
But they make me love you more
I know I moan, but I even love
Your resonating snore

I love the passion you have for life
In everything you do
And after all the years together
There's nothing we can't pull through

Because we've been married for 28 years
And Time has flown by fast
Yes we've had our ups and downs
But I know we were built to last

This is a poem i wrote for my friend Belinda after she asked me to write a poem for her and her husband for their 28th wedding anniversary
