Wait

Violent daggers
fall from the hands of innocence
as blind men
search for
vision in their prayers
help is on the wings of an angel
ironically crying blood
in the rain
i only see your smile
and when you are away
my heart beats misery in every pulse
against my will
i ride the wind
searching for your substance
laughter's answer or even
the regret of a solemn shadow
clinging to a lost love
i close my eyes
maybe if i
can't see the demons
they won't exist
but life hands me a gun
one bullet
and tells me
to accept it
that i'm not worth it
i am hated for what i am
and penalized for what i am not
and as i end the nightmare
i can finally hear you whisper
you say one word
and i stop myself from pulling the trigger
our lips meet and the
moonlit night
is our escape
from this judgmental world
and that one word
repeats itself in my mind
you say it so beautifully
i smile at the thought
you linger sleeping
on my chest
as i thank you
for saving me
even when it meant you
enduring hell
i sigh
and wipe away a crimson tear
you move in your sleep
and i close my eyes
drifting away
i do as you told me
i "wait"
