The Reaper Calls

by Jordan W   Dec 23, 2007

He rose from the burning depths
Hands of purest white clawing free of the earth
Face twisted in a rictus smile for all eternity
Mouth letting loose a soundless scream
He now stands above her,
Staring into her desperate eyes,
And offers her an escape
He reaches out a hand and waits
The reaper has come to claim another life
He has come to claim what was always his
She walks calmly into his ivory arms with a smile upon her face
She looks into his eyes and see the burning fires of hell
And greets them with joy
She leaves this twisted place behind
She takes her leave from this tortured existence
The trigger is all that stands between her and him
She slowly moves her hand into place
She draws her final tortured breath
And the last sound she ever hears,
Is that of her heart racing in anticipation.
He opens his arms wide,
And welcomes her.
Her tortured life left behind,
She smiles broadly and takes his hand in hers,
And walks down the path of fire,
Unheeding of all,
Just finally happy to be with the one she loves.
