L0ve Be The P0is0n

At first she thought not
To question the absence
Of hunger's great yawning
Within her empty stomach
In time she accepted this
As something quite normal
A natural progression
A passage of change
At night she looked up
Into star spangled skies
Seeking some answers
But knowing no question
Thirst had now left her
By way of strong hunger
No physical yearnings
Effected her at last
With a casual glance
She looked once behind her
At the familiar doorway
Standing open and warm
Then turning her back
On the door and the home
She stepped into the night
To join the unknown
She trudged on resigned
To let nothing despair her
Into the night's darkness
Beyond love's bitter spell

They found her alone
In the light of that doorway
Prone on the ground
Where life spilled from her
No outward defects
No sign of what felled her
They slipped her off swiftly
To find some excuse
After a quick autopsy
Her examiner sat puzzled
Over the woman who had died
Of naught but "BROKEN HEART"

Love be unending
Love be undying
Love be the poison
That kills without trying
