Worn Out Shoes

by Kristi White   Dec 30, 2007

I hope you know I've found someone
and I'm where I need to be.
It's lacking all the sparks we had
but at least he's there for me.
I hope you know I love someone
and I'm feeling better everyday.
My relationship is stable
and your relationship slowly fades.
I hope you know I'm better off
although I cry for you.
I hope you know I've found a way
to pass those hours with you.
I hope you know I still love you.
I don't hate you and never will.
Only because I loved you then
and I love you still
but I hope you know I've moved on
and I replaced those wore out shoes
just to walk that other mile,
the one away from you.

I LOVED the idea of the last stanza about walking the mile away from them. We always here that expression you'd walk a thousand miles to be with them, but you reversed that by saying you are walking away. I like that originality of the piece!
