What If?

What if I didn't love him?
What if it wasn't true?
What if I love someone else?
What if that someone was you?

What if I went to him?
What if I told him about you?
Do you think he would forgive me?
Or pay me what was due?

What if he blows up at me?
What if he does something rash?
What if he doesn't hear my plea?
What if he throws me out as trash?

I may not love him
But one thing will remain.
I still have a heart
And hate to see pain.
