Absence

by Neil Marsden   Jan 18, 2008

Forgive until tomorrow for I cannot write,
For fear that stalks me on this silent night.
Bring with the sleep a meaning sure,
Depart my soul with package pure.

Do not desert me on this night,
So many other mortals might.
Ignite a star that I might see,
Place love into its destiny.

Sit coals of granite on the fire,
Surrender fuel, re-light desire.
Such is each morn you bring to me,
A measure of your dignity.

Each vital step a treasured goal,
Each precious pace such deepest soul.
Cast not such gifts into the blindness of one's eyes,
But launch belief beyond such doubting skies.

Form life and weather as you will,
Create pure climate on until.....
You know the spark is wholly out,
Pride in knowledge forfeits doubt.

Then and only then can you,
Taste with each glass morning dew..
A sense that with your soul he took,
A fancy for your virgin look.

Than sunset came to tell that I,
Chance view you with a different eye.
The morning chorus pleads with me,
To unveil eyes that will not see.

Beyond the poem to the prose,
Where word and wisdom endless grows.
A love forever about to begin.

Neil Graham Marsden.
