Beneath The Surface

by Crystal Rose Crahan   Jan 25, 2008

A frozen river under the snow,
Though you can't see
Water still moves.
Beneath the surface,
It's protected from the outside world.

My heart beats in my chest,
My head fills with thoughts.
I lie in bed, still, yet restless.
Beneath the surface,
My entire body yearns for you.

We both know we can't be together,
And probably never will be either.
Life always has a different plan.
Beneath the surface,
It's usually easier to just go with the flow.

So while we're apart,
Promise me you'll think of me often.
And remember that we may be apart,
But beneath the surface,
Our hearts are right next to each other.
