The Star In The Storm

by Crystal Rose Crahan   Jan 25, 2008

Time ticks away,
As the candle flickers on.
Shadows dance on the wall,
As the tempest rages in the hollow emptiness.
Lightning flashes
Lighting up the room.
She stares silently,
Wondering what can possibly happen next.
The thunder crashes,
Startling her for a moment,
Rumbling deep into the darkness of night.
She feels the excitement mount inside her, knowing its time.
She moves out into the storm,
Standing in the rain,
As it pounds down onto her,
Stinging her skin.
She waits to meet him
For the first time ever.
Standing and waiting as the rain cools her
Her heart begins to pound hard in her chest.

A fog begins to form around her,
She begins walking deep into the cloud,
Noticing the time,
She closes her eyes, stopping.
She feels a strange sense of warmth
Moving toward her.
"Here he comes," she whispers to herself.
She can feel him move closer.
She turns around,
Beginning to walk back from where she came,
The fog begins to lift
The rain still pouring down.
Then out of nowhere,
With a skip in her heart,
She hears something behind her,
And she spins around, to see her love.
She runs to him,
As he takes her in his arms,
She tells him how much she needs him,
And he stares into her eyes, smiling.
She looks into the sky,
Noticing a break in the clouds.
The rain still stinging her face,
A bright star shines through.
"It's beautiful," she tells him.
He asks "The star in the storm?"
She replies, "No matter what storms may come,
There will always be a clearing, to show you the way."
He nods at her, wrapping his arms around her,
He kisses her then whispers in her ear, "I love you."
She looks at him dripping wet,
Then smiles, whispering "You are my star in the storm."
