Letter of the Heart

by Mark Z   Jan 30, 2008

There it is
Sitting on the table
In a sealed envelope
Its been there for days
"Here I am shaking
As I write this for you my love
For this is the hardest letter I shall ever write
To you from me"
Afraid to even touch
What lies in front of me
I have yet to sleep
As if that would be possible
"I love you so deeply and truly
I have never been so close to someone
You have changed me
And have shown me what true love feels like"
Pacing back and forth
Trying to decide
If I want to read what's in the envelope
Or throw it into a fire and watch it burn
"We have been through so much
We have bonds that I shall never share with anyone else
I gave you my heart and soul
And trusted you with everything"
Read or burn
As my head continues to spin
And my heart aches
Wondering what the envelope holds
"You are everything I have dreamt about
Straight down to all the flaws
To this very day you still cease to amaze me
For I would give my life to save yours"
Upon looking on the table
I finally see the truth
My heart sits on the table
Awaiting its demise
"As time has passed
I've grown oh so fondly of you
Yet all of the passion and fire within me
Has started to kindle down to ask"
Finally giving in
I pick up my heart
And pull out the letter within
Which is written in blood
"Through all our times together
My feelings for you have weakened
And that high I felt for you is gone
And so am I... goodbye... forever"
