Arisen: My guess is mid 1800's but prior to then, I'm guessing not that much.

However the Greeks knew that rubbing amber and fur together causes an electric attraction between the objects, and that you can even get a spark if you rub them together long enough. In fact, the word "electricity" comes from the Greek word elektron, meaning "amber".

    Not so important question...

Painted Persona: Of course I miss you, it's been a while.

    As for your other question:

The burbs - Older but a classic in my eyes, very funny. Has Tom Hanks in it when he was a little younger.

Vantage Point - Action packed and full of non-stop adventure that will keep you interested in what happens next.

Iron Man - Just saw this the other night, it was better than I had expected however you need to be in the mood for a lot of action. If you don't like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, etc. you won't like this one.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Classic Indiana Jones movie, a must see if you are a fan of the Indiana Movies, however; saying that it was not the best nor did I like how it ended.

WALL-E - Animated robot that keeps your interest, much like the movies: Monsters Inc., Cars, Toy Story, etc.

The Dark Knight - I haven't seen it yet but want to, I am waiting till it comes out on DVD.

I am sure there are more, but I just can't think of all of them, it is too early for me to be thinking lol.

Not to get off topic, but Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a hilarious movie, painted persona.

    Joe, Obama or McCain?

Who has better lyrics? Kanye West or Lupe Fiasco?

If you could pick any poet to have a conversation with who would it be?

Annnnnd, have you gotten caught in the Twilight phenomenon?

  • Shellaine shelli

Ha ha ha i thought that little maths conversation up there was hilarious, lol. maths is like a language that i just do not speak.

anyway thats not my point, i don't really have a question but just wanted to say it was really cool reading the discussions up here:) fun fun

  • Italian Stallion

Austin: Well I am leaning towards McCain at the current moment.

I couldn't tell you who has better lyrics because I don't listen to that type of music.

William Shakespear, he has written many famous poems.

    Annnnd...No

Okay I will refrain from the question I was going to ask, because someone mentioned politics.

Why is it that Barak Obama want's to give a tax break to 95% of America when 40% of that 95% does not work.. Why take the money a person worked hard for to give to people who don't even pay taxes because they are to lazy to get a job, and think they are entitled to everything for free?

  • adriaan

I was just thinking...Joe, if someone started up a topic similar to these ones, i.e. people asked them questions and they answered them, would you challenge it?

  • Italian Stallion

TragicRomance: Senator Barack Obama acknowledged in recent times that he wants to "reform our tax system so that it rewards labor and not just prosperity." Which by all means isn't true, it is just political BS termanology to get around the greater good of the American Public, However; many believe that is a great goal if it means an effortless tax system with low marginal tax rates. Alas, a close examination of Obama's proposal reveals something unsettling: he would increase marginal tax rates for numerous middle-income taxpayers, a shocking move for someone in quest of promoting economic growth.

It's not about the Working Class aka Middle Class or the Rich People, it's all about Money for the Government and how to rip off the American Public without them truley knowing his intentions behind his wording.

Come to think of it, his tax plan is much like a poem, whre it has hidden meanings behind the story/outer shell of the original wording.

Arisen Twice: It all depends on how similar the topics of choice are. I've had a few people ask if they could start similar threads, and I didn't have a problem with that, there are many questions, some I may not even know the answers to, but others might. So again it all depends on what type of thread it would be and how similar it would be to mine, I may or I may not challenge it...

My question... How many of these did you go on to google to answer?! or are you just seriously clever?!

  • Italian Stallion

Pollyx: I answer all these questions via my own words. When I don't know a lot on a particular subject, I do research to further understand/educate myself on that particular subject. But to answer you, everything is in my own words and are my own thoughts.

"This is the song that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend. Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because...This is the song that never ends...."
does 'the song that never ends' end?

  • Italian Stallion

January friend: That is correct the song never ends, the way it was written was with 1 verse that was repeated infinte times, however; it technically does end whenever the person or people singing it stops singing. But other than that, NO the song will never end it is repeated infinte amount of times.

  • Carrotgirl

And Joe be honest did you really try to goggle an answer?

  • Italian Stallion

4 track demo: No I did not google your question. I am actually learning about the brain and it's functions in Psychology at the current moment.

  • Italian Stallion

Carrotgirl: I don't have one clue to what the answer is for that.

  • Italian Stallion

Carrotgirl: No, I never google to get an answer. I might google to learn more on a particular subject, but that's it. As I always like to say,

    "THE WAY TO KNOWLEDGE IS
    LEARNING.... THE WAY TO LEARNING
    IS ASKING...."

    Hi Joe

Here's some Brain trivia for ya
Ive been diagnosed with a moderate (TBI) trumatic brain injury after an assault. many people see the wobby dribbly (people obviously with brain damage)and assume their walking veggies.

Ive had several years of neurologists and specialists doing tests and although I have some major flaws with short term memory, many of the tests showed either well above average or excelling in different areas. Yet I've spent quite alot of time stumbling around and looking wobbly, speech and forgetful. To be honest it can be a nightmare. So don't judge someone on first impressions.

The other thing I'd like to say is if you do have a serious injury don't go all doom and gloom. Even though we have extreme suicide rates the brain does repair itself. you cant grow new brain cells but brains neurons get knocked out of alignment and have a wonderful knack of finding new pathways and you find you slowly (very slowly) get your life back to some degree. Every injuries different but learn to ride out the highs and lows and just watch the general improvement

By the way Joe I made up that other question just wanted to see if you goggled it or not

  • Italian Stallion

Carrotgirl: Thank you for that little bit of trivia, I always like to learn new stuff. Since learning is the ultimate key to knowledge.

    Any more questions?

  • adriaan

    I'll think up one. Hmm...

Got one. What's the best way to get rid of the overpowering smell of a dead mouse?

(I ask this because there really is a dead mouse underneath the floorboards in my bedroom, and I've had to move upstairs from the stink. And no, there is no way to remove the mouse.)

  • Italian Stallion

Arisen Apocalypticalias: If you can't reach the dead mouse, then there really isn't anything that will get rid of the odor except time.

  • adriaan

    Didn't think so.

Alright, I'll try a serious one for once. Approximately what percentage of what they tell us on television is not true? (concerning the stuff that they claim is true)

  • Italian Stallion

Arisen Apocalypticalias: More than 80% of TV is dedicated to the News. Weather it be about war, disaster, crimes, sports, etc. And a mojority of televised news is false information, it is misleading, and not always acurate. The news tries to destort stories a lot, so they can get more story out of it then truth usually.

Therefore, I am going to say around 75% - 85% of the stuff you see on TV is false or misleading information.

  • january friend

Hey joe, why do people ask for your honest opinion, and if they don't agree with it, get mad at you. they don't want to hear the truth?

  • Italian Stallion

January friend: I am going to answer this question with a quote from the movie, "A Few Good Men"

"You want answers? ... I want the Truth. ... You can't handle the truth!"

    And really, it's the truth...lol

Rikki: I think you missunderstood the question about Dinosours, I believe the person was asking why and how did the dinosours become extinct meaning why excactly did they die out.

Or you're just trying to be a smart-ass.

  • Italian Stallion

    Rikki: "Another theory..."

^^That's exactly what they are theories, nothing is proven facts. There are many theories as to how the dinosaurs became extinct. No one knows for certain exactly why and how the dinosaurs became extinct, since there is no proven theroy.

I will answer all the questions in a timely manor, This is the, "Ask Joe Column" which is very simple, people ask questions and I reply. If you want to intervien with a question asked, please do it via PM.

    Thank you, Joe

  • Italian Stallion

January friend: Yes, I play the guitar. I've been playing the guitar for approximately 13 years now.

When you pluck a string, the whole string is vibrating. When you touch the string, it will reduce the reverberation of the string. When you fret a string, you are altering the amount of string being used, but when you play a harmonic, you are using the entire string. Since the fretboard can't maintain the entire span of the string, harmonics gives you an approach to get a number of high pitches that you don't have frets for. Harmonics also permit you to have notes besides the open string. You can view harmonics as a technique of selecting the lowest natural frequency that can exist in the string.
