well zoey if you are a real pagan then you do believe in god, you not only believe in him but you believe in goddess as well. So i'm confused as why you said you don't believe in god?

well i kind of believe in god but not the way everyone else is-i lean more towards pagan/wiccan beliefs...but they are individualized religions and im more fate/earth/and self person; not as much in god and the goddes-so i guess you could say i have my own religion. as for telling my parents-its crazy. i hide it from them that i even think of wicca and every now and then they'll find a book or webpage marked off and kinda throw a fit-then i have to bring home books on a few different religions and just tell them im just looking into stuff and reacearching/learning...etc. so good luck-just talk to her. there are millions of things that my mom flips out over when i tell her-but she gets over it...i just make her listen somehow...get your point accross creativly...

Paganism is about gods. Christians thought that celtic tribes, german tribes, baltic tribes etc. were pagans and disbelievers (didn't believe in Christ), but muslims thought that christians were disbelievers and so on, so on...
Point: There is no objective truth or belief, so any man or woman can choose in what to believe. If someone don't understand you or don't want to understand you, that is his/her fault. :)

Just to answer your question from my perspective.... paganism is another way of describing "New Age." The spiritual principles are virtually the same; they just have different words for things.

Religions for the most part are monotheistic, meaning that they believe in 1 God, and one God alone.

However Paganism, as well as the New Age belief system believe in different deities, angels, guides, beings, entities, etc. (polytheistic)

I suggest you look into New Age belief, it may suite you better. I personally am New Age/ Pagan and I find that it allows me much more philosophical and spiritual freedom than any organized religion could ever give me.

I personally think that religion is a terrible concept and it hinders people from thinking for themselves.
It is documented that organized religion was a form of mass control, and it still is today.
I suggest people do some research....

I mean this whole thing about the Bible... what authority says that it is correct and factual? No one, besides the mass majority who were raised with the belief system and never bothered to challenge it. I could just as simply state that Moby Dick is my bible and live my life by it. Nothing was even credibly written until a couple hundred years after Jesus died... I mean, to me, people need to use common sense.

This does not mean that I am atheist, and I do respect anyone’s beliefs but I believe that any "Bible thumper" is incredibly gullible and lost, just like they believe I am going to hell and worship the devil lol.

The bottom line is that whatever works for you is what you should stick to. Spirituality is so individual. Do some research.

And also to clarify, the dictionary defines "Pagan" as:

1 : HEATHEN 1; especially : a follower of a polytheistic religion (as in ancient Rome)
2 : one who has little or no religion and who delights in sensual pleasures and material goods : an irreligious or hedonistic person

I looked it up a few different times, I also found this:

One who is not a Christian, Muslim, or Jew, especially a worshiper of a polytheistic religion.

    One who has no religion.

    A non-Christian.

    A hedonist.

Basically I have seen other dictionaries define "Pagan" as "devil worshipping," however that began from the Bible and stems from the Catholics, etc. There is a whole theological history behind all of this, bottom line is that it is polytheism, which is New Age.

Also keep in mind that dictionary definitions are different than what actually occures, for instance I have also seen it defined as "satanic ritualists who often perform animal sacrifices," which is utterly ridiculous! This doesnt mean its not done, but this means that just like the extremist Catholic sect, Opus Dei, there are varying degrees of fanaticism. Opus Dei practices corpal punishment, which is a form of self inflicted pain by putting a device around your leg, some "pagans" do rituals, etc. You cannot define a group by a select few.

Also satanic worshipers are SATANIC WORSHIPERS, not pagans, who are mostly harmless people who honor nature spirits, etc.

Keep in mind that these people are often not obsessed with earthly possessions, but quite the opposit are often "granola," not to offend my own kind ;)

    Hope this helps,

And again, it’s just my opinion, perception, and observation.

There are no pagans anymore, just people following Pagan type ideas. Just as there are no Ninjas anymore...just folk like me who dress in black and steal fruit from old ladies.

New Age... I'm thinking its a good choice for you. Metaphysics is along the same lines, but its the "science" that New Age is based on, technically. Hope you find your way.

Ach, the Pagans where a savage and bloodthirsty people, who would want to emulate them? Killing poor villagers in honour of their nature Gods...pah!

Of course they had some nice ideas....but, well i'm all for the creation of a new religion.

It's called Unreligion, and it's great.
