The time machine

Me again, last little 'what if?' then I will stop hijacking this forum.

What if you found a time machine? where would you go and what would you do?

I would love to go back to medieval times with a disposable lighter, I would show them how powerful I was by producing fire from my fingers. Or I would take a digital camera back and tell people it is a soul catcher!! I would take their picture and tell them I have them in my power !!!(evil laugh follows!!!)

I would love to go back to the times when ladies wore those beautiful dresses and men fought over you with guns, ha ha. I always feel I was born too late!

There are other places and times I have in mind but right now? I really, really wanna go back to last week and help me prevent myself from getting this damn flu.

Too many to name. However, Michelangelo & DaVinci's workshops figure in there along with Benares circa 500 BC.

I would like to go back to the days of Hitler, there are some stuff that I need to negotiate with him about; technical stuff.

I'd do something similar. Be a fly on the wall when Jesus was preaching, crucified, resurrected. It might clear up some questions.

Also I often wondered what my local area was like in the past, and what it will be like in the future. What was my local town like 100, 200, 500, 1000 etc years ago, what was on the land where my house was built... Seeing what it will be like into the future would also be interesting.

I wouldn't mind popping up and witnessing some historic moments in history. Photobomb behind a president or two, meet a few iconic people, the usual.

The possibilities are endless. When I let it, the idea of time travel fascinates me

Larry I would also love to visit DaVinci's workshop, Some of his sketchs and inventions were ahead of his time.

I'd go back to ancient times and stop our ancestors worshipping the sun. IE, I've save us all from religion.

It's funny how the OP never actually mentioned back in time he only asked....where would you go (although he also stated he's go backwards) and yet...all the answers so far have been about going back in time...why is that?

I think I'd rather go forward...find out if the world really does end on 12/12/12 then I wouldn't even bother trying to give up smoking..stop paying my bills (haha!!!) etc and...I'd probably party up big time for the last months I have left :)

Going forward would be a bit daunting. What if you found out something that you would rather not know? I suppose i wouldn't mind going forward 500 years to see what the world looks like. Might have day trips to mars by then.

It's just a fireball after all. Is it really? well...we'd all be dead without it I believe and...maybe that's why our ancestors worshipped it..it's needed and was not taken for granted back then.

I first saw that movie at a cast party in high school. I was there with my friend, who was there with her new boyfriend: the pastor's son. Awkward.

Actually hellon is half right is more in tune most scientists will agree it's more feasible to go forward in time as opposed to returning backward.. Also to consider and I know Darren's question is hypothetical...but Steven Hawking noted (and others) time machines are impossible. He said " if possible then where are they" meaning we would know already and have been visited by oodles.
Past lives are riddled with diseases, hardships beyond compare with todays. A simple tooth ache for a primitive farmer could be a killer. To take back into time with what we are benefited today is impossible.

I'd love to visit Ancient Greece and meet Alexander the Great. Or just experience Ancient Greek culture. Preferably turning into a guy at the same time because yknow women couldn't really do much in society then.

I'd go back to the day my real parents decided to try for a child and find out what they were thinking...

If the world will end on 21.12.12, I'd have Christmas a month early.
