Some have spoken of the love for ALL people but...I get your point. In this thread all have spoken about the love of their own country and how nothing will ever change their mind but....I remember less than a year ago Poetess denied that there was anything going on in Syria and everything the western world was reading was total propeganda....and now she seems to have changed her mind dramatically???

I also remember being repremanded for having the audacity to suggest she was young and perhaps a little niave....now she's freely adimitting she's only 17 and probably knows nothing.

So...apparently that's one member who has jumped ship and changed her mind so....there may be hope for others yet?

I found your big statement pretty amusing, what with all of the sarcasm.

I'm glad that you pointed out all of the positive elements of the United States - they're most certainly true. But I think that you're missing the point. This is about the past 11 years. You made no real points about recent history, but rather made a huge mess of sarcastic statements about it and then called up your knowledge of the US from 60 years ago to make it seem plausible.

I think you need to sit back and absorb more information about both sides rather than storming in late for a conversation with a bunch of biased 'kiddies' when you seem to be completely biased yourself. Sorry, I mean 'sucked in' as if you had no choice in coming here.

Can I just ask a general question here for all to answer? How many countries still have national service? I know USA might still...it had it a lot longer than UK did I know...but Canada.. Asian countries...middle eastern ones...how many do still have it and...who still agrees that it should be compulsory?

Hellon, I think I agree with Senryu. I don't think that serving in one's army should be compulsory unless there's a serious need to maintain national security. Even I'd join an army to protect my home, and I'm not a fighter in the least.
