Should guys hit back if a girl hits them?

It's a bit random, but I'm just curious to know what you think about this topic.

Of course, we all know that it's best if there was NO violence at all, but what if a girl hits a guy, should they hit back?

Personally, I go with the traditional ways - guys should be like gentlemen and not harm the ladies in any way. (Either way, it's the same concept - two wrongs don't make a right.) Apparently, that's not how the morals of SOME of the males are these days.

hitting someone doesnt solve anything. why not be the better person and not hit them back?

I think if a womans getting a little out of hand physically a man has every right to RESTRAIN her, but never to raise his hand to her. As much as we fight for equal rights, men are physically more powerful than most women and they should know better...think of it this way - what if it was your mother or sister or girlfriend that was the subject of the hitting??

Hey..I'm all for equal rights...but it doesn't seem like guys get equal rights in this case on physical abuse. And we should all know better not to be hitting on someone.

I'll never hit a woman if I can avoid it, and I'll never hit one first.

But if a woman starts swinging at me then the gloves come off. Minimum force, get her on the ground and sit on her until the police or something comes along.

(My wife is a karate champ and although I am trained in three martial arts, she'll get the first shot... NO THANKS. I'll just run away if she starts up.)

A girl who has brave enough to hit a guy should be tough enough to get the same back. I agree with JPM. But I dont think a guy should hurt a girl more than she hurt him. It's true that guys are physically stronger.

(I got a lot of guys in my family so I tend to take the guys side most of the time..lol)

For the record I have only hit a girl once. She slapped me across the face she got one right back. (I have been slapped round the chops plenty of times btw.)

Honestly, if a girl starts flipping out, a guy SHOULD by all means restrain her, pin her on the floor, put her hands behind her back, etc. but NEVER hit her back. He can be a bit forceful, he can make it hurt a little, but never HIT her.

I have only smacked one guy, and he deserved it, and he knew it. He took it like a man and he did not even have a reflex reaction to hit me back because he knows it is WRONG.

I would also NOT hit a guy for no good reason, I'm not stupid, I understand that if one ever DID hit me back it wouldnt be a good situation, I am a little girl, on the short side of 5'3, and I dont want to mess around with that.

When a girl hits a guy or pisses him off, she has to be aware that he is bigger and stronger than her, and could do anything he wanted. We all know that males are in control, hence rape, battered wives, etc. and you dont want to challenge that to a point you'll regret it.

But for guys, knowing that, they have a certain amount of responsibility to not hurt a girl, knowing that she cant hurt him nearly as much as he could hurt her. A man should never touch a woman.

If a girl hits a guy, the guy has the right to hit her back.

Hey, women wanted equal rights. They wanted to be treated equally to men.

Men hit men.

Deal with it.

Now, a man should not hit a woman FIRST. By no means should a man strike a woman, unless she struck him first.

Now, the mature thing to do would for the man to deal with it anyway...

I'm just saying, I believe the man has full right to hit her back... Just not bludgeon her.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, or sexist, but I know PLENTY of women/girls that would back me up on this.

Women fighted for equal rights like being able to vote, and being able to have the same mental oppurtunities.

There are physical differences between the sexes, men are stronger, and they are bigger in general. These differences are dictated by testosterone and estrogen, among some other hormones and chemicals. Men are more competitive, have shorter tempers, are more willing to fight and defend their pride and for their territory, while women are more sensitive, nurturing, moody, and submissive. If a man would ever strike a woman back it is a blow for his ego, not because women fought for the right to be hit.

Like Bob said, a man is NOT a real man if he would be willing to hit a woman, unless it is a weird circumstance. Defend yourself if a woman is attacking you? Yes. If a woman is coming at you with a knife or gun, defend yourself, but if she hits you in the heat of the moment, it is a totally different circumstance. Restrain her, hurt her a little, but NEVER hit her back. It is total lack of control, and the equality thing is utter nonesense, because the physical differences between men and women give a moral responsibility.

Women can hit women, men can hit men. The opposit sexes should not hit each other, but in the case that a woman does, she can not do nearly as much damage as a man could do. Hitting a woman in most cases is like hitting a child, unless she is a body builder or something.

Lipton, I disagree with you. Most women are much weaker than men. I'm sorry if some of you girls disagree with me on this. I'm not for FEMINISM at all. On the other hand I do beleive women should be treated the same as a man in things such as politics. If a woman can work as well as a man she should be paid like a man. When I was little my uncle twisted my wrist IN PLAY. He may not have ment to hurt me when we were rough-housing, but he did. He lost all the trust that I may have had left in me towards him. Women have fighted for fairness and equality for as long as anyone can remember. Now, in the UK and America at least, they have it. So why should they be excused from punishment. I mean if a woman hits a man, it is fair to say she should be hit back. Then again, no matter what anyone says, men are by far the stronger sex than (most) women. So overall hitting is not a good idea in the first place.

Now, I realize that, physically, women are weaker than men. However, there are also women that can beat the crap out of a man.

If a man gets smacked across the face, he prolly deserved it, and shouldn't strike back.

I was talking more on the basis of "play fighting." A girl walks up to a guy, hits him, and says, "You can't hit me because I'm a girl."

I never said it was right for a man to beat a woman... In fact, I said I don't agree with it.

lipton- I do agree with you there. I think some girls do use that as an excuse to hit guys. Like bob shank said about a man that hits a woman or child, I think the same thing can apply to a woman who hits a man for no good reason!

Defense and disrespect are two different things. It is disrespectful to hit anyone, a woman should not hit a man unless he really asks for it, but a woman should be prepared for him to hit her back in the case that he does. It is more disrespectful for a man to hit a woman because it threatens her physical security. When a woman slaps you across the face, you know you could defend yourself and knock her out in one swing (based upon the figures and average comparisons). That is the difference.
