I shall never forget Ameer—
as long as I live,
and then,
to the end of eternity.

I pray to You,
O God of innocence:
accept this broken offering,
the blood
of the most innocent smile.

Ameer,
your little joy is Jerusalem.
You kissed a hand...
Now we,
all of us,
all eternity,
shall kiss yours.

I take off my hat,
I bow,
I kneel,
I kiss your feet.

Forgive me.

We are all
thirsty
for your blessing.
Have mercy on us.
