why "are" there even preps in school

what grade are you in? 'caz last time I checked stereotypes (as far as highschool goes) have been dead for like, 20 years.

im steryotyped (spelled it wrong i think lol) as a prep...but i think that by steryotyping people into groups it is putting pressure onto those people to feel like they have to maintain that image. i happen to be a very nice person who is friends with a vast variety of people. by saying "preps" so generally, you are kind of insulting me. they arent all like that. just because we wear a&f and take care of ourselves, it doesnt mean that we should all be viewed the same. stereotypes are so degrading because they label us by what we wear and who we talk to. i think that that is so stupid....and that girl probably wasnt mean to you because she was a prep, she was probably mean because she is a mean person.

we dont go to highschool wer i live, and i am in wat u would highschool, but wat preps are to you would probley be the popular kids,(they are all upsessed with them selves and dont care how others feel)

prep-someone who prepares emmencly for something (a.k.a the future/college/etc;) get's excellent grades, is enrolled in after school programs, involved in sports (jocks), involved in leadership programs

That's actual definition you guys. you might want to re-word what you're complaining about because I don't think alot of you know what you're talking about.

I hate how people are labled but im in highschool and things are still that way. we have them all in my school even the preps.. but i'v learned not to care what people think if there mean to you thats there lost there not worth your time.

and preps in my school are defined as people who think they are better then everyone, come from a wealthier family, and all of them admit there way they even use the work "prep" for themselves

ok im a prep, and taylor i wanted to thank you cus really we arent all like that, like i try my best to become friends with everyone, i dont care about who they're friends with, wut they look like or any of the shit, personality is the most important thing to me and i admit it, i do care about my looks but thats cus im insucure, but hey wut girl isnt these days?? but thats not the only thing i care about, the only thing i truly care about is just to know that my friends and family are happy, like i act like a dumbass all the time and i dont give a fuck who knows it lol, like im not what you call a "prep" but i consider myself one only cus of where i shop ( hollister co., forever 21 etc) but if it helps i dont talk like them and you know what i mean the girls who talk like this " like omg, that like so cuuute like where did u like it" i woud shoot my self if i talked like that lol, but i wanted to say im sorry everyone who has been teased or bullied etc if i could do sumthin about i would :)

lol everyone always says stereotyping is stupid and that people need to stop doing it...blah blah blah....that may be true, but what they don't realize is that stereotyping is UNAVOIDABLE!! people are going to stereotype, no matter what, it's human nature....no one can stop it...so learn to live with it....

Wait, if we're talking about preps "the popular people", in my school, they aren't exactly the future Ivy League-ers .They're the sluts, slackers and stupid people... The kind that talks to EVERYONE about every detail of their night with their current one night stand (think Mena Suvari from American Beauty)

But if we're talking about preps "people involved with everything" i guess, you're talking about me and my friends...LOL. Student Government, Yearbook Committe, School Newspaper...but we're not popular... people hate us...well, at least they hate me...
