Ok Everybody Has Been Throwing Around Diffrent Religons In The Forums Lately...Causing Quite Some Bad Arguments That Should Never Exist!...I Feel That Religon Is beliefs That We All Have a Right And a Choice To Believe In...I'm Christan But That Dosen't Mean I Look At All The Other Religons Badly...I Accept Everyone....And I Respect Their Views On Religon...Everyone Should Start Doing That To....We Have No Right To Say "Wiccan Satinism Witchcraft Or Athiesm" Is Bad Because We Don't Believe....Respect Others Please Ok Thank-u :)

Yeah. Fighting over beliefs only causes problems. The last time religion mixed with politics, people were burned at the stake...

Wow....I Never Knew They Took It That Far...But I Agree...No Matter How They Try And Down Play It...They Put Religon In Politics...

They did take it that far. Remember the Salem witchcraft trials and the Crusades in Europe? The Christians perscuted and killed suspected witches. Muslims tortured and killed Christians. Germans killed Jews in the WWII era. Now, Israelies and Palestinians kill eachother, people still persecute Wiccans and other pagans and Muslim extremists still kill Christians. In Indonesia, the Maduran tribes got into a war with surrounding tribes because they were Christianitized and the others were still following tribal ways. In Bosnia, Muslim Serbs fought with the Bosnians. More recently, Chechnya and Russia are at war. The history of our world is filled with blood shed over religious wars. Small disagreements turn into massive death. So many people are blind to this, but it happens because we cannot coexist without arguing over the smaller details. The common bond between all religions is that we beleive in a God and we teach peace and understanding toward our fellow men. However, we don't always practice what we preach. If we did, these conflicts wouldn't happen.

Respect for religion is like ice cream...it makes everyone happy except for one person because they're lactose-intolerant and then the ice cream just melts...

Hmm...funny....a lot of my recent quotes have been made on these forums...very interesting..lol..

    Peaces.

Very true. I've TRIED to state that in the witchcraft post, but you got the words out a little better.

As it all boils down to... You believe this, and I believe that... Once we get there (which happens inevitably) we are at an impasse. Every religious discussion I've had with someone has always boiled down to that very quote... You can't change my mind, and I can't change your mind.

Exactly. People are hardwired to be headstrong. Once they choose a path, it's hard to break... Even if it's the "wrong" one. To me, one's spirituality is their's alone and noone else's to tamper with. As they say: "To each their own" I agree with my cousin, XxNOIRxX [Chris], that extremists are the ones who give religions a bad name. In the end we are all here on a specific mission - to promote peace between the people on this Earth and to guide and protect this planet. But as it seems, humanity isn't doing well in our present society with the senseless wars and wasteful use of rescources. We are destroying ourselves and the world we live in. We all must realize that we are all people and we all have different cultures, religions and backgrounds and we must tolerate eachother for these differences, for intolerance will only lead to more death.

My worst experience with religious intolerance was at my high school during my senior year. In my public speaking class, we were asked to write an informative speech on any topic. I chose to do mine on Wicca because I am Wiccan and we had just seen a film on the Salem Witchcraft Trials in my English class. I gave my speech the next week and almost immediatly came the finger pointing, name calling, death threats, etc... I was also called to the office and told that my speech was intimidating and offensive to students who heard or read my speech (which was printed in the school paper). I was told that I wasn't allowed to write or speak of Wicca, witchcraft other pagan-themed subjects in school and I wasn't allowed to wear my pentagram or carry my books. I took this pretty badly, conscidering that the school openly shows religious pieces from other faiths like Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism in the display cases in the upstairs halls... My speech was in no way threatening and only told the truth about my religion. I was oppressed for it. My Public Speaking teacher was behind me on the matter, but the principal wouldn't listen to him, either. So I went the rest of the year living in a shadow of oppression. I was harassed, assaulted in the halls and looked down upon by the administration. They all hated me for my speech. But what's to hate if what you say is the truth? It's because they can't handle the truth and what's beyond their own convoluted, saftey blanket knowledge. People fear the unknown and therefore oppress it to keep it from "offending" them, but one cannot run from the truth forever. Sooner or later it catches up with you. But for now, I'm happy I graduated and am out of there, away from those people. I can go on living my life the way I truly am.
