I respect your talent in writing poetry and of course, your own way of reminding us of "freedom of speech". But honestly, that was a pain in the *ss to go and edit all that out. My God man, the only reason i didn't delete the damn thing was because... well, i'm not sure why i hadn't.

I'm with JPM on this one.

What's the point of not being able to swear on the forums? People do it regardless. Who are we scared of offending? Even the 11 year olds on the site have heard them all before, plus, if their parents were attempting to shelter these things from them they wouldnt let them on the internet alone.

When did it become P&Q's job to play the parent and the people pleaser?

Writing isnt about pleasing people, it's about being real and saying whatever is necessary to be said.

The censorship on this site really does suck.

I also hate how specific PEOPLE get targetted and censored.

For instance, and I dont want to shoot myself in the foot by using me as an example here, but for the sake of pointing it out I will.

I've probably only gotten censored on this site like twice, and there are plenty of more times that I should have been censored, then there are the people on the site that can't get away with anything because they are "watched," so to speak.

I think it's complete bull that people pick and choose which forum rules to enforce and with whom at any one time.

I love the mods on this site too, I love all the regulars, I love the community, but damn, the censorship is what almost RUINS it all for me.

In truth, that's a big part of the reason that I stopped hanging around here so much, which may or may not be a good thing, but the bottom line is that the SERIOUS writers and talented writers are what keep this place afloat, and the censorship is pissing them off more than anyone else.

If the site keeps on losing the regular members or they drift further and further away from the central P&Q because they feel literature in general is getting offended, where is P&Q going to find itself?

I feel pretty strongly convicted about this one too. I feel like I've been holding it in as well, JPM. I've been thinking this stuff for a long time.

Well maybe the issue of swearing needs to be looked at.

Personally, i don't have a problem with it if it's used in an expressive manner in an indirect way. But when it's used aggresively AT someone in an effort to riducule or shout them down....then it has to go, and though i value freedom of speech, i'm also big on the personal responsibility each of us must take for the things we write in a public forum, and their effect on the varied masses.

In short, i'll post a message in the mod forum addressed to Janis about this and a few other things i've spotted that may need looking at....but for the time being....don't be using the harsh words at each other and you'll get by i think.

Yep, I was censored for telling someone to fuck off out of the country if they didn't like it. However, prior to this the guy had called me a c#nt! But got away with it by using the '#' in the middle of the c#nt, as it were. I cunt believe it!

Literature is not about cencorship, as you correctly pointed out KK.

I sincerely appreciate the consideration of these issues by the mods, by the way. I'm glad that at least some of this stuff has been acknowledged and recognized as an issue to be dealt with.
