If we were the only ones in this vast expanse, it would be an awful waste of space?

Do you think about this alot? let me ask you something...if they did, would it change your life in any way? Except of course with regard to any technology they might share with us?

Would you become a happy chappy if they landed or where discovered?

Aliens and God are in the same boat in my regard...nice if they are there, ok if they are not.

hum...I agree with KEvin on this one...

I personally don't think about the issue much. Correct on technology, maybe hostile and they might bring war or introduce new diseases.

Would not affect me either way, if they appeared or not. I don't think we are the only ones around, that's all.

well, something is out there... for sure, maybe not in this universe but maybe in another. we cannot be the only breathing creature in a place which goes on forever. ne one agree??

    nice Bob.

thinking of our universe and how tiny our solar system is compared to the incredible...well ongoing numbers of uncountable others out there, i'd say it'd be pretty ignorant to think that there was no other intelligent life.

note- Everyone hear about the recent discovery of the 10th planet?

Of course there are aliens...i see them sneaking across the border when i go to Mexico...

That comment was unneeded, Bob. You, too, Ari. You should be ashamed of yourselves for such blatant racism. Tut Tut

Sigh...the petty bickering started on this site...

There's no way we are the only living creatures in this giant universe. There simlpy has to be something else out there...somewhere.

  • †JustAri†

LOL I apologize Maharani. *gives puppy eyes* I'm not racist, i'm Mexican (half, anyways) myself. :P

But still i had no right to call them aliens...

...for they are immigrants. And that is it. :P

Bob, why'd you have to go and mention Taco Bell...i haven't eaten for a while now. :( Lol.

    Peaces.

You only have to look outside of your window (or in most cases indoors) to see an alien.

Cats, dogs, birds fish reptiles invertebrates are all aliens in their own right as we are alien to them.

As for life outside of this atmosphere sure they exist. If we can have creatures that live of off sulphur at the deepest points of the sea then I see no reason why there isn't life elsewhere. The probability far exceeds the improbability.

I point you to the Drake equation (as I have many times in other threads):

    N = R x fp x ne x fl x fi x fc x L

It expresses the number (N) of "observable civilizations" that exist in our Milky Way galaxy as a simple multiplication of several, more approachable unknowns. R is the rate at which stars have been born in the Milky Way per year, fp is the fraction of these stars that have solar systems of planets, ne is the average number of "Earthlike" planets (potentially suitable for life) in the typical solar system, fl is the fraction of those planets on which life actually forms, fi is the fraction of life-bearing planets where biological evolution produces an intelligent species, fc is the fraction of intelligent species that become capable of interstellar radio communication, and L is the average lifetime of a communicating civilization in years.

    Maybe...but i ain't taking a "burro"...too slow. :P

But if we get my Uncle Joel to drive then we can get pretty close...and we can stop at Taco Bell on the way there, Taco Bell and the border are practically right next to each other lmao...

To sum it up, it really depends if you believe in another universe.....

And those "evidences" could very well be computer generated....

    Think logical people....

So what did they use to create evidence before computers were invented?

It has long been thought that Europa, one of Jupiter's moons is capable of sustaining life forms of a similar type found on earth.

And the Drake equation was formulated in the 1950's. That was long before computers were available to learned professors (I think only two computers of any worth had been made by then anyway and they were little more than calculators with Colossus being the prime example.).

Ever think there might be life out there wondering the same about us on computers made of rotten tomato left-overs?

    Yeah, me neither.

But I do think there is other life out there somewhere.

  • Steven Beesley

If ET is out there, he would be asking the same thing about us. Don't you think?

Who knows may be they also have poets?

Lmao!! That's true! We're here on Earth debating about whether they exist or not and they could be doing the same thing eating candy bars named after the Great Lakes and bickering over whether life on other planets or not!

    Oh man...that's just weird. :P
