    Locks of Love

Nikki, that's interesting and something I never knew about. I can pass this info onto my niece who has a hair salon that isn't on the list.

That Would Mean Alot To Me If You Would Lydia! I Think People Who Know Their Hair Grows Quickly Should Consider To Donate....Because a Person Whos Not a Victim Of Cancer Will Grow Their Hair Back More Quickly....a Cancer Victim Never Will *Keep The Hope* xoxo-Nikki-xoxo

If girls donate their hair by way of my niece, the free haircut would be a nice bonus. They charge $65 for a haircut there. Ouch! But I think she would do it because they sponsor other charity functions there. Everyone in our entire family has been brought up to understand the importance of sharing our blessings through charity.

Screw charity. I happen to like my money in my pocket. Those people were born in to that life.
Sucks to be them. But I have donated time to some basketball thing.

Ryan I Strongly Charish Your Opinion....I Hope You Really Don't Feel That Charity Should Be "Screwed"....I Do Think Some People Were Born Into The Poor Life But Some Charities Help Those Who Were Born Healthy And Encountered Such Sicknesses As Cancer...And Cancer Reasearch...By The Way I'm Glad You Donated To Some Type Of Cause *Cheers* xoxo-Nikki-xoxo

I donate half of the money on my pay cheque each week to Cancer Research. I spend some time during the summer and winter months working with children who have cancer. My entire family donates a lot of money to it as well. My friends are also very supportive about this which is good.

As for you ryan, have a heart. You really are one selfish b*****d. Doesn't say alot about you, does it?

Obviously it does, took you a sentence to say it. I don't donate money. I have no need to I need it.
    I only donate time.

Nikki your charity means alot . Whether you are helping someone in need or someone who is unfortunate enough to be stricken with some kind of disease . I often donate to cancer , heart and lung and multiple sclerosis .
And Ryan you are way off ...some people don't ask to be poor or dealt a disease . Without the donations to organizations I would live a life destined to never be cured . I for one have one of those diseases that need funds for research and the medication that keeps me stable until there is a cure . I was not born into it or have I asked to be dealt this hand . I have multiple sclerosis and without the donations there would be no research and without the research no cure and without the cure means I might live a life of not being able to see my kids reach the age of 16 ( just like you ) .
I do understand that some people do not have the money to donate but .... if each person donated 1 dollar ( the price of a can of pop ) that would end up to be alot and that just might save someones life ....and in 10-20 years from now it could be yours .
Anyways excellent post Nikki , I bestow an award upon you for having a big heart of gold ..

Screw charity. I happen to like my money in my pocket. Those people were born in to that life.
Sucks to be them. But I have donated time to some basketball thing.

If he just can't afford to donate to the people that need it the most, then why say what he said above? It would have been a lot nicer just to say I can't afford to donate....and I, for one, would then understand why he doesn't donate. He gave me, at least, the totally wrong impression. And I still stand by what I said, if you arent as selfish as you make yourself out not to be, you wouldn't have said " I happen to like my money in my pocket". Think about what you have said. btw.....I am not argueing with you ryan, I am just commenting on your word choice.

    Back on topic......
1 in 3 of us will come into contact with cancer at one point of our lives, thats why I choose to donate. My little cousin died recently with an childhood cancer that could have easily been prevented, and as a result of that my family and friends work harder to raise funds. Children, adults and older people don't have to die because of an illness that we can prevent.

    Only we can stop it.

"How can you possibly prevent cancer?"

Eventually it may become preventable through research.

In todays news: An experimental vaccine to prevent the most common forms of cervical cancer proved 100 percent effective in a two-year test on more than 10,000 girls and women, according to Merck & Co. which developed the drug.

How can you possibly prevent cancer?

    Taylor``

I can't prevent cancer...We can. We can by raising awareness of the disease, by raising funds for research. But we have to do it together. We can also help by providing the emotional support needed to get people through the treatment. The treatment for cancer can be very painful and for some people its just too much to take and they let themselves die by not fighting back. I've worked at many hospitals and I've seen a lot of kids die, not because of lack of funds for cancer treatment research, but the emotional support to get through the treatment. There are many ways we can stop cancer but its a "We, not an "I".

Nikki I would just like to share that today a lady that works with me just found out that her 17 year old step-son has Hodgkinsn (a form of cancer )
So young and she said he has done nothing but cry since Tuesday when he found out . Without the charities he would have no chance of a future .
He is in my thoughts and prayers .
