You offer some excellent observations about writing, Annelyse. I'm impressed over what you say about aiming low. That's definitely contrarian thinking.

I have a true story on my web site about about an author whose life's ambition was to write a novel and have it published. She set her goals high and was very self critical. Once she was finished, she continued to revise it many times over in a quest for perfection. If it was not for an intervening act that was unexpected, she would probably still be going through more revisions. Her novel became a huge success and she has gone on to have 16 more successful books published.

I'll consider it but for the past 6 months I've felt like I'm on an involuntary sabbatical from creativity.

Also, like Rosemary, I tend to be an obsessive self critic, a habit that leads to an endless, repetitious stream of editing. It would be a struggle to quickly change from this long established compulsion in order to rise to the NaNoWriMo challenge. Old habits die hard.
