It Was Pointed Out To Me, On a Recent Comment On a Poem I've Written Intitled "Shattered Kisses" That a Young Lady That Goes By The Name Of "Maggi" Has Stolen My Poem And Called It "Shatter Kisses".....I've Already Reported This To The Site And Confronted Her, Some Of Her Poetry Looks Too Good To Be Hers....So If You Get The Chance Go Check Out Her Author Page To See If Some Of Your Poetry Has Ended Up There As Well *But I Would Like To Commend This Site For Getting Rid Of Plagerizers...Because Now Its Slim To None* *Kisses* xoxo-Nikki-xoxo

HH -- You seem to have a misconception about the nature of copyright.

"Copyright protection is automatic. As soon as the work is fixed in a tangible form it is protected under copyright law. You do not even have to place a copyright notice on a work for it to be protected, but this is a good idea because it tells others to whom the work belongs."

The net makes it easy to steal other people's work. But just because you CAN do something, that doesn't give you the RIGHT to do it.

No offense to you or any other writer here, but publishing poetry is just not a profitable enterprise. Even acclaimed poets like Jean Valentine aren't making any significant sales impact with their published works. Pick any published poet and look on amazon.com at the sales rank of the books containing their poems. Most are lower than 200,000th and none to my knowledge is above 100,000th. That is the reality.

Consider the actual harm other than personal effrontery that might result from someone plagiarizing your poems. It is extremely unlikely that someone stealing your poems is going to attain any unjust profit from such misdeeds, no matter how wonderful your poems are.

So I would say write your poems for your own personal joy and satisfaction and the joy that you receive in sharing them with others. And don't let the ill-intentioned deeds of plagiarizers, naysayers or other negative influences deprive you of the feeling of personal fulfillment you get from your writing.
