Forever - Judy Blume

Anybody else read this book? It was supposed to be about teen romances and your first sexual experience and, though I'm glad the characters were responsible and went to a family planning clinic to prepare themselves, I thought that the ending was a little cold and harsh.

No, I haven't. Forever is the only Judy Blume book I've ever read... I think. I was curious about it because I heard that it was banned for awhile and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

About the ending being cold and harsh, Judy says that she wanted to write a book where two people have sex and aren't 'punished' for it in some way, shape or form. But, the ending (to me, anyway) was pretty much a punishment. Nothing hurts more than a broken heart. I didn't expect Kath to be so hurtful.

Anyway, about Tiger Eyes, I've only read a little bit about it in the back of Forever. What's it about?

Yeah, I'm thinking about going down to the library soon and getting some Judy Blume books out. I'm thinking about getting Deenie and Blubber. I'll get Tiget Eyes as well.

Have you read Deenie and Blubber? Are they any good?

LOL. When I read Forever, I didn't expect the book to give as much detail as it did. It was written a long time ago so, I was like, WHAT?!?! It wasn't too pornographic but, it was still graphic especially for a book from that time period. No wonder they banned it. I wonder how graphic her more adult novels are.

Lol. Woah, I never really imagined Judy Blume writing like THAT. How graphic are they? Like, The Godfather (novel) graphic?

Graphic to a point but nothing terrible.

Oh, ok. So I guess, it's not like Forever, where they go into heaps of not very sexy details about sex? Because I was eating yogurt at the time and that almost made me throw up. I suppose, that was part of her original plan. To have a more realistic look at sex. It's not as glamorous as the movies and it doesn't ALWAYS end in someone getting a disease or getting pregnant.

But she expresses it in a way that is still respectible to her readers. Not like one of those dollar romance novels.

Haha, those are funny. My friend and I opened one up in a bookshop and their synonyms for body parts are hilarious.
