You are about to see my problem of not being able to give one view.

On the one hand, it spares animals from being slaughtered.

On the other, most of the other animals are killing each other for food. I most certainly cannot live without meat.

I also thought I couldn't live without sugar, but it has been well over a month and I have not died yet.
If anything, I feel better, and healthier.

Do you get mad at a bear catching a fish? Or a cougar eating a deer? No. Its nature. We were giving insizors for a reason....to eat meat

My dad's girlfriend is vegan. She's perfectly healthy and I end up eating vegan half the time. It's actually not bad at all. I think that PETA overblows the issue, but I don't think there's anything wrong with veganism/vegetarianism.

Just let people do what they want to do. It doesn't hurt you either way.

I don't get mad at an animal eating an animal, because they are reacting to their instinct.
But humans are reacting to their taste buds. We like the smell of fried fish and chips, roast ribs, stir-fried mince-meat and roast chicken with stuffing and gravvy, but if you couldn't cook the meat, would you still eat it?

I don't blame animals for eating each other, but I blame humans for eating animals.
We can survive without them, animals HAVE to eat each other.

    Humans are predators.

We are supposed to eat meat. We have done it since the day we became a specie, and I hope we will keep eating meat.

To follow your taste-buds is to follow your instinct. Meat tastes good to us because that is our bodies way of saying "We need it". If it tastes good, we eat it and get vital proteins and fat. It is good for us. As simple as that.

I don`t think it`s a good idea to stop eating what humans have eaten for thosands of years.

Even animals favor some prey over others.

    It's okay.

I just get sick if I don't eat/eat too much meat. So I basically need it or I get sick.

Enslavement: Have you ever eaten raw meat?
You probably have to cook it before you can stomach it. Meat is like sugar, it tastes good to the human taste-buds, but it does a lot of harm to the body.
Meat isn't especially bad for you, even though some say that it causes diseases of some kinds.
In the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve ate fruits and vegetables, it was only afterwards that they began to hunt, after they had sinned, and been banished from Eden.
Eating meat was something that came with sinning.

And of course, cannibals are predators too, but just because I feel like hurting something today so that I can satisfy my tastebuds doesn't mean that I will.

i don`t eat raw meat, but remember that mankind has been able to make fire for thousands of years.

And if christianity is to be a part of this discussion, you can count me out.

Meat does no harm to your body. Who told you that?

  • Truest Lies

Did you know that when you cook meat little particles of smoke get into it. Cooking meat, in other words, causes cancer, even more than just cooking vegetables, which only need to be cooked lightly..
So it is bad for you.

And if christianity isn't part of this conversation, then life isn't either, and we are talking about food and life. At least I am.

Enslavement of Beauty you do make me laugh. Your ignorence on this is very very amussing. Im nopt trying to be rude, but you shouldn't talk about things you obviously don't know. Humans wern't suppose to eat meat, we never were. Let's look at an animal that eats meat in the wild... a lion for example. What do lions have that make it possible to eat meat? Sharp claws/ teeth for tearing meat, Powerful legs to catch up with their prey. Our nails are short and weak, and our teeth are for grinding, not shreading. The only way we could kill an animal is if we have powerful weapons or trap the animal so there is no other option but death. And do you know why nutritionists recomend chopping up bits of meat in apple sauce so babies get nutrients they could easily get from vegetables alone? Because to a babies more accute and untrained taste meat taste dead. We can train our minds to tolerate, even like things we didn't before. When I was seven I would get sick at the site of broccili, and now I couldn't live with out it. And meat is very bad for your body, I don't know who told you it wasn't because they were lying. By my personal experience, after I went vegetarian I lost weight, gained energy, got clearer skin, shiny hair, and strong finger nails, even a notable improvment in my overall dispsition. If that isn't enough to sway your vote I'll give you the solid proven facts then.

"A vegetarian diet can even reverse damage already done. When Dr. Dean Ornish put patients with coronary artery disease on a low-fat vegetarian diet combined with moderate exercise and relaxation techniques, he found that they reversed the buildup of plaque in their arteries."

"Researchers have found that vegetarians are between 25 and 50 percent less likely to suffer from cancer, even after controlling for other factors, such as smoking"

"Researchers from Yale University report that meat-based diets can cause cancers of the stomach and esophagus, as well as lymphoma"

"The overuse of antibiotics in factory farms has caused many of the bacteria found on animal flesh to become antibiotic-resistant. Scientists at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health recently reported that 96 percent of Tyson chicken flesh is contaminated with dangerous antibiotic-resistant campylobacter bacteria"

And if you don't care about yourself or the animals, how about the enviroment?

"Raising animals for food requires massive amounts of resources. Of all the agricultural land in the U.S., 80 percent is used to raise animals for food and to grow the grain to feed them—that’s almost half the total land mass of the lower 48 states.(28) Chickens, pigs, cattle, and other animals raised for food are the primary consumers of half the water in the U.S.(29)

Each day, factory farms produce billions of pounds of manure, which ends up in lakes, rivers, and drinking water. Farmed animals produce about 130 times as much excrement as does the entire human population of the United States—87,000 pounds of waste per second!(30,31) A California study found that a single dairy cow “emits 19.3 pounds of volatile organic compounds per year, making dairies the largest source of the smog-making gas, surpassing trucks and passenger cars.”

" Im nopt trying to be rude, but you shouldn't talk about things you obviously don't know"

    hahaahahah...

You are fourteen...you have not studied any of this...I have studied it for three years...And know way more than you on this matter...every single one of your arguement proves an extreme lack of knowledge on the area. And this is not to be rude either. You have no idea what you are talking about. Any human biologist would laugh at your statements.

They are simply stripped of understanding for human nature. And of evolution itself

Humans have eaten meat for far more than ten thousand years. Lions have claws, but we don`t need claws, and we haven`t needed that for many thousands of years, because we have our intelligence.

How can you claim that we need claws or sharp teeth to eat meat when we don`t. We never have. We are more intelligent than animals. seriously, you need to study more.

"Let's look at an animal that eats meat in the wild... a lion for example. What do lions have that make it possible to eat meat? Sharp claws/ teeth for tearing meat, Powerful legs to catch up with their prey. Our nails are short and weak, and our teeth are for grinding, not shreading."

That stands out as the weakest arguement I have ever heard. We have our own weapons, and we have had these for over ten thousand years. They are called HANDS. we have been able to make weapons for countless generations. And we have eaten meat even longer.

Come back and argue when you have studied this matter, don`t bore me with your lack of knowledge and understanding.

I have studied human biology, and know more than you on this matter.

"The only way we could kill an animal is if we have powerful weapons or trap the animal so there is no other option but death"

What powerful weapons are you talking of?

Humans have for ten thousands of years killed the biggest creatures on earth, the mammoth for one, without so-called powerful weapons. Open your eyes.

    you impress me

And don`t bring in babies in this, that makes you look even more ignorant. I have stuided animals for years now, and believe me, predator babies don`t eat meat from the start, it takes a long time for them to adjust to it. I know FAAAAAAR more than you on this matter, trust you me.

You are the ignorant one here.

It is obvious to everyone that we don`t need sharp teeth or claws. We have managed to capture prey for as long as we have been a specie. We have had no need of evolution to take care of things.

Believe me, I have studied this matter.

Meat is bad for your body? Human-biologist would slap you in the face for that statement

And believe me, I have heard over hundred experts claim the opposite of what your experts said.

    Seriously...

    look at what you said

"Let's look at an animal that eats meat in the wild... a lion for example. What do lions have that make it possible to eat meat? Sharp claws/ teeth for tearing meat, Powerful legs to catch up with their prey. Our nails are short and weak, and our teeth are for grinding, not shreading. The only way we could kill an animal is if we have powerful weapons or trap the animal so there is no other option but death"

that only way has worked perfectly for as long as humans have existed...

Pay attention in class in the following years, and you will see how pointless your arguement is,....

I care about myself, and I care about the envirement...and we, here in Norway, have no problems whatsoever with the enviroment.

No offence to you Americans, but USA is, as far as I and most european scientist see it, the biggest treath to global enviroment at the time being.

  • Truest Lies

Put yourself in a forest in nature, with a lion, and we'll see who eats.

If it wasn't for this unnatural civilization surrounding us we wouldn't have the means to hunt.

Did you know that animals have a soul?
In the Bible it mentions that the lion and the lamb would reside together in peace.
I strongly believe that animals have a soul, and that it is wrong to eat them, because they are beings, if not human.

    And now the famous question.
    Would you eat your dog?
    Your cat?
That cute poodle that the old woman down the street walks every day?
    Would you eat your pet?

Your're killing and eating an innocent piece of beauty. Animals are too pure, too feeling and majestic to be reduced to a piece of steak...one that will probably make you fat, as it is.

If McDonald's and all the other fast food companies stopped making all those hamburgers how many poor cows and chickens would be spared? And how many people would fall into a "normal" category of weight due to a better diet?

Oh, and if you don't care about the animal, then think about this.
Did you know that thousands of animals are pushed into horridly small pens and mal-treated, under/force fed, fed hormones and other chemicals, then brutally killed, skinned, sometimes while still alive and shipped off to be made into foods that are filled with additives.
Hams are smoked, which causes cancer, and they add so many bad things, that if you really didn't care about the fact that you were eating a being then at least care about the fact that you are not eating "meat." You are eating dead flesh with a lot of additives and cancer-causing particles smoked into it.

You should try being vegetarian for, say, thirty days. After that if you noticed no major bettering of your health, or your life, then please yourself.
Eat nature's pets, if that's what you want.

I wonder if you see every animal you've ever eaten in heaven--right, you don't even believe in that..
Or are you scared of that.

    Christianity...meaning "Christ."
Beliving in God. God is life.
He created life. He is life.
If you believe in God, then you believe in life.

Opinions and beliefs are not disgraces.
If you believe in something, then stick up for it.
Vegetarians are attacked more than meat-eaters, as it is.

  • Truest Lies

Also, I apologise because I have become very used to considering Christianity not a special branch of religion but the act of believing, and worshipping God.
Supposedly, I'm Russian Orthodox, but I call myself "Christian" because I believe and worship in God.
You can call yourself anything you like, Protestant, Jewish, Catholic, "Believer," whatever...
You are "Christian" if you believe and worship God.

It seems that Enslavement isn't Christian. If you believe and worship God than you are Christian, even though you may have different customs then, say, what the Orthodox do.

I don't practice any specific customs. I am comfortable in any church that believes in and worships God.

    Why, Tamar?
    They are Christ-based "religions."
If Christianity is Jewish, then Jewish and Christianity are the same thing. It's all the same. We believe in God, maybe one "religion" stands up while singing and another sits down. Both believe in God...so why be angry?

  • Truest Lies

Anyway, this was about vegetarianism and veganism and your thoughts on it.
I, as a vegetarian, have a right to say what I think, but meat-eaters seem to have been a tad brutal on me...oh well.

If I have done anything to hurt any one of you then I apologise, and if you have done anything to hurt me then you are forgiven.

Sorry to jump in but...how does being cristian or any other religion have to do with the topic of this post?

  • Truest Lies

Of course, if your religion is God, and God is life, and you believe that that means sparing life...then vegetarianism is religion, in a way.

  • Truest Lies

I never said that vegetarianism was a religion. No, I didn't take religions in high-school, I learnt a little in school, but it was mostly evolution, so I dumped that. I did learn the truth in primary school.
I do not belive that schools these days are equiped to teach about God. I also take home-schooling, there they teach me about God.
I don't have a need to learn about Satanism and Wiccan and all other "religions" because I already know that they are not true, and not correct.

Just look at those who practice them, and how they end up. No offense to those who do, but I find firm reason not to follow it in any way.
