I actually think that's an awesome idea. That way, we can start saving up for college and such.

I agree with Bob...and oddly enough, I am a student myself and I love money - but the lack of discipline for children (that I have noticed) is really not helping us any. It's like we're getting everything handed to us on a silver platter; thus as we get older, we expect them to still be within our reach. That alone is causing us to have no responsibility for ourselves, become rather unreliable, and lazy. With that silver platter - years can go by and we wouldn't learn a thing about value or purpose. School isn't to make money, school is to teach - it's our chance to have some self discipline and get ours butts there to be taught about things, not complain because we don't already have it good enough... I can't believe I just said all of that, because truthfully I would Love money - but I know better than that. *sigh* there's times I wish I didn't know any better lol.

Im 17 and get paid £30 a week to go to school.
    Its EMA (education maintenance allowance)
You recieve it if you stay on to do further education, so sixth form or college after school and it also depends on how much money your parents make. If your parents earn more than a cetain amount you dont get it. Its to pay for school supplies like books and paper, transport, however alot of people do still have jobs in my school. And I did aswell before I was ill. Although we do have to work for it, if we are not working properly or not attending then we dont get paid.

I pay my children according to their report cards. I feel that if they make ggod grades then they deserve it, but on the other hand when they bring home a bad grade on their report card they have to pay me.

This has actually worked out quiet well. Here is the break down

    A's $5.00 each
    B's $3.00 each
    C's $0.00
D's They pay me $3.00 each
F's They pay me $5.00 each

This has helped them value that money is just not given to them and they have to earn it. I also do not ride them to do their homework. If they make a bad grade because they did not do it then they must pay the piper. If they do it and make a good grade then verbal rewards are the best reward that I can give them.

Though we have this system working for us it is not a system for every parent or child. My children are simply paid for their quality of work like an adult is a job.

But as far as responsibilty, they have daily chores they must do and there is no pay for that. The chores are simply their share of the rent.

Yeah that's the sme at my 6th form. I also get £30 a week, but if I don't work or attend lessons it doesn't get paid. I feel it is a good idea, but is mostly for paying expenses for books etc.

i don't think it's that bad of an idea. however, i can't but believe it's kind of ridiculos. i mean, why be paid to go somewhere that provides you with education for the future? if you need money get a job..thats what i did. sure it would be awsome if we got paid to attend school, however the payment shouldnt be with money...it should be the knowledge you obtain. therefor get an eduacation go to collage and become a success....or at least not the manager of a mcdonalds when you're 30.

thats just gonna cause more drug problems in my towns, kids will buy more drugs, go to more raves and end up od-ing

Ahh, I was only looking at the positive side of getting paid, like saving up for college and such. But than I realized that most people don't value education and will take advantage of the money that will be given to them.

Brian King brought up and excellent point, giving student money will only promote their drug usage.

So I have to disagree. Just because I would be the one to save up for college doesn't mean they will too. I have to think of others before me, and I think it's best for them that we do not give them money. If they want money, they can get a part-time job.

Haha, I love the way Sherry Lynn pay her kids. I only wish my mother cares enough to do that.

Between the ages of 16 and 18 I couldn't have been paid enough to go to school.

The educational benefits that you little twits will carry for the rest of your lives should be enough.

Well, personally I am a very poor student. I'm not paid to go to school. I'm homeschooled, but I get an allowance of 2.000 Chileans pesos a week.

That's a nice amount. Most of my expenses are paid for. Sometimes if I do an abnormal (at least for me) amount of schoolwork my mum will give me a small prize, such as a little box, a pair of earrings.

For the most part she doesn't judge me for the amount of schoolwork I do, and I respect her for that, even if most of the time I believe that I need someone to hound me.

I am also given some jobs in the family business. I type originals into the computer, and my dad pays me fairly for that; in other words, what he'd pay a secretary, and I am also learning all I can about translation so that I can work in the business when I am older.

As for paying kids to go to school, it depends. If they're respondible, then YES. School is very hard work, you have to get up early, deal with bullies, study hard and make grades. If the kids have a history of drug abuse and are just going to go and buy some drugs with it, then I guess the parents should keep the money in an account and give it to the kids if they ever decide they want to change their ways and get a life.

School is a SMALL part of a person's life that betters them to head out into the world. An education is your reward as the better the education the better one can do. The more you care to learn the more you can achieve...what else could you want?
