I've been on accutane since 3/8/06. The side effects are NOT the same for everyone. Everyone is different so they all react differently to different medication. For me, it has helped considerably and it's only been about a week and a half since I've started it. My skin hasn't peeled any yet; it actually peels less than it did when I was using the different creams. However, my lips seem to get dry and chapped easily so I have to keep blistex on them 24/7. Also, I reccomend getting a humidifier to keep your room humid so you can avoid nosebleeds and drymouth. Accutane makes you thristy and dries you out from the inside out so drink plenty of water. The blood testing is not as bad as it sounds. If you get a good nurse, you can't even feel it. I decided to start accutane because my acne got so bad that nothing worked, I was on the highest dosage of antibiotics and two different creams and I washed my face three times a day. Accutane is a last resort. Talk to your doctor and try antibiotics and creams if you haven't already. If you've tried everything like I have and nothing else works then I think you should try accutane. Take it at the same time everyday with food and plenty of water and pay close attention to your body. Stop taking accutane and consult your doctor if you have severe stomach cramps or headaches, vision changes, ringing in ears, persistent nausea, vomiting, or yellowing eyes or skin. Also it causes major birth defects so DO NOT GET PREGNANT OR DONATE BLOOD. |
