The Catcher in the Rye..HELP?!?

hello.
i have to write this essay and i am no good at writing delayed thesises. the topic is "The Catcher in the Rye is one of the most taught novels in highschool. should this be?"
i have no idea what to write for my delayed thesis. help?

however, i am saying yes to the question. i am just stuck on what to say for the opening remarks.

You could say something about how it shows the transition between childhood and adulthood. The loss of innocence, the realisation that the world is not what you originally thought it was gonna be like. It basically gives you an idea of what a lot of people go through during the teen years, the loneliness, unsure of what you're doing etc... it should be taught at school because students taking the class are usually in the same age group as Holden.

But that's just my take on it. LOL.
