    Phoenix

Glittering sunbeams in the blood-red sky
Milky waters crashing wave on wave
    Freezing heights of terraces
    Mountains gleaming to their prey

Rustling leaves filling the night sky
Like a flower, a budding flower
Clouds of thunder fill the sky

    Golden sands grace the evening
As shadows run straight into the night
    Hear the haunting melody
    See a story's plight

    Cascading from the luster pearls
    Of the deafening air
    Crack, roars the thunder
    Crash, goes the water's waves

No one would dare venture here
    Not even the most brave

    The clouds open
    To reveal a blinding light
    Many have seen it
But not a soul sleeps in the same night

    The soothing clouds of heaven
    The smoldering fires of hell
    Engulf a flaming circle
Where one mysterious creature does dwell

    Splitting the the sky
One side gold, the other silver
    A sovereign among saviours
    Their voice coos and shivers

A giant echo that rips the clouds
    Apart from heaven's gates
    For centuries
    People did wait

    Blazing from the sky
    Drops this amazing being
    Red and orange, yellow, black
Falls this bird and its breeding

The roars, the cracks, the splitting of thunder
All goes silent at this beautiful descent

Its wings spread out as does the entire earth
Its travel signaled as cathedral bells
    Glowing eyes of ember
    Born of heaven and hell

    The legend of myth
    Descends from the sky
    Bringing straight behind
    A mellow lullaby

    Phoenix
    by Silhouette, of something unimaginable

    Phantom of the sky
    hearing everything below
    on and on i fly
eating on my heart is death
    now flames engulf me
i cry out but no one can hear me
exists in dreams to never call again
    arise from the ashes
    raging heat
    in fear others watch
    silence is the surrounding world
easily it is broken by the cry of the PHOENIX

    ~Loch Ness~

Below the murky water she lurks. As if she knows, as if she desires, the attention we are so willing to give her. But, unlike us, she realizes that the pleasure is in the chase. She stays deep beneath the surface, under the radar, breaching the water with her long rigid neck, for only few of us to see. Like a tease, she allows only subtle glimpses of her prehistoric beauty. But, one day, you can be sure, the chase will end. When all have given up hope, she will reveal herself. Her beauty everlasting...

    Devil

Human hands, and limbs, and head
The softest voice, the sweetest song

Aim with a bow, that could strike you dead
A mind that's designed for doing wrong

A gentle smile, and earthly touch
Beautiful wings, as black as night

    Upon life, a deathlike clutch
A hating soul, designed to fright

Deep brown eyes, a pleasant smile
A graceful presence, you can't deny

But as you're talking, all the while
He's thinking, 'How should this one die?'

    ******************************************

I'm not sure if the devil counts as a mythical creature - the poem just sort of sprang into my mind. Sorry if it's not allowed (It won't matter - you've helped me to write a poem!!)

    Peace. [Sole]

I'm not exactly sure if my entry is a poem. I felt as if it were very poetic while I was writing it though... Hopefully it will count : )

    Water Nypmth

His body and mind from battle weary
He was a knight, young, brave and true
On his journey home he paused
By a tree lined lake of blue

His horse was lagging with fatigue
So by the water he did lie
The knight bent to quench his thirst
When he straightened with a cry

A maiden stood in the lakes centre
    Her skin turquoise and clear
Her body clad in sea-weed green
Her blue hair caressed by a veil sheer

Her eyes were bright, as green as grass
Though there was no wind, her hair stirred
Her lips, a deep-sea coral pink
And deep inside, the knight’s heart burned

A fair arm towards him stretched
Over the waters surface her feet did tread
Her lips were parted in a smile
The knight did not notice his steed’s dread

Her dress trailing smoothly in her wake
She daintily stepped out onto the ground
Like lightning she grasped the knight’s trembling hand
Pulling him towards the water without making a sound

The knight followed without out a thought
    Towards the lake’s unknown depths
And he slipped beneath the lakes surface
The nymph’s kiss draining his breath

Her arms entwined with his own
    They sank beneath the waves
Then she entangled him in sea grass
And left the brave knight to his grave

Beware eyes of green and hair of blue
For thought her beauty is great
She lives on the breath of love-struck men
Avoid her home, or suffer this fate.
